Rebecca Zubajlo

  • BS, Bioengineering – University of Maryland, College Park
  • MS, Mechanical Engineering – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • PhD, Mechanical Engineering – Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Rebecca is a Harvard Kidney Urology Hematology Training Institute Postdoctoral Fellow working in the Edelman Lab. She earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, specializing in Design and Manufacturing, with a minor in Management. Her doctoral research focused on developing fabrication platforms to engineer tissues and cellular structures, as well as creating label-free systems for real-time analysis of cellular and tissue mechanical and metabolic properties—particularly in neuroscience, cancer, and abdominal adhesions. Prior to that, her master’s work centered on designing imaging biomarkers for early disease detection, with applications in thyroid, cardiac, liver, and muscle disorders. Currently, Rebecca’s research explores modeling acute kidney injury in cardiogenic shock, integrating real-time sensing technologies. Beyond the lab, she enjoys designing and restoring furniture, working on craft projects such as stained glass and woodworking, baking, and spending time with her dog.
