Research Scientist & Project Leader
Hemodynamics, medical devices, biomechanics
E25-449

Farhad Rikhtegar, currently affiliated as research scientist and project leader, received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), working on modeling blood flow and drug transport in stented coronary arteries. His research at EdelmanLab is mainly focused on leveraging understanding biomechanics, and successful translation of state-of-the-art technologies from bench top tests, engineering platforms and preclinical experiments to clinical practices. He uses data-driven computational models to develop tractable and provably-reliable engineering test systems and numerical platforms to to provide mechanistic understanding of diseases, and assess and optimize the efficacy of medical devices. Bioinformatic tools he develops provide predictive/prognostic means, diagnostic tools, and surgical guidelines for clinicians.
