Kim attended Carnegie Mellon University for a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an additional major in Biomedical Engineering. Prior research projects involved development of an artificial lung device, as well as a 3D printed bioreactor for tissue perfusion. She also has experience at three startup companies focused on pediatric cardiovascular devices, artificial lung technologies, and a tissue engineered artificial pancreas.
