Dr. Kolandaivelu is an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Medical Director of the IMES Clinical Research Center at MIT, and on staff in the Cardiology Division of Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). His research defines local and systemic factors underlying outcome variability to cardiovascular treatments, bridging clinical association to causal mechanism. Fusing clinical research, instrument development, and quantitative models, he explores how information and uncertainty translate across systems and scales to address real-world issues such as device performance, drug resistance, and treatment optimization. Dr. Kolandaivelu received his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering, and PhD in Medical Engineering & Medical Physics from MIT. Following an MD from HMS in the HST Division, he completed training in internal medicine and cardiology at BWH and is currently a board-certified physician.
